New Child Support Guidelines Bring Substantial Changes
Printer Friendly View The Indiana Supreme Court on September 15, 2009, adopted newly revised child support guidelines. Many areas were changed substantially and you should consult your attorney whether you pay or receive support. The changes are effective January 1, 2010. The most significant changes are in the areas where at least one of the parties is low income earners or very high income earners. In the case of high income earners who are paying support, the support may increase thousands of dollars a year. I have also addressed under the Indiana Law update the significant changes involving people who are currently on or seeking social security disability. If you are unsure of the effects upon you, you may contact our office to schedule an appointment to see what if anything you should do. In fact, depending on which side you may be, the timing is very important. Some may want to wait until next year while others will need to move quickly. As with all other information contained on this website, you should not consider this legal advice and you should seek advice from a lawyer. Appointments may be arranged to discuss the matter with our lawyers but no advice will be given by email. |
